Family-Friendly Events

The 2026 Piccolo Spoleto Festival isn’t just for grown-ups. We’ve got lots of fun for children of all ages. These events are filled with stories and music and laughter.

Lowcountry Magic Jamboree is a fun family-friendly showcase presented by Charleston’s own Lowcountry Conjurors.  Guests should come 45 minutes early for close-up magic in the lobby followed by a 75-minute show of captivating miracles for all ages.

The Seed & Feed Marching Abominable, Atlanta’s wildest community band, has been thrilling audiences since 1974 with its trademark explosive sound and colorful street theater. They’re back!

Lime and the Coconuts – This fun-loving, five-piece Lowcountry band performs hip swaying Americana music for audiences from kids to elders. As the Sierra Club Oyster Roast band on Bowen’s Island for 16 years, Lime and the Coconuts brings a joyful, hip sound to the Lowcountry. The Coconuts’s band of professional musicians include: bassist Jeff Narkiewicz, clarinetist Matt Sciarro, saxophonist Keith Namm and guitarist Noodle McDoodle. The Lime, featured vocalist Mary Edna, the Lime, also plays accordion, guitar, mandolin and banjo.

College of Charleston Children’s Opera: The Three Little Pigs
The College of Charleston makes opera accessible through its successful children’s opera program that reaches more than 40,000 students in local schools with fairy tales and nursery rhymes set to great music.

Drayton Hall Elementary Bobcat Chorale -Guests will be treated to an enchanting evening where young voices sing lullabies and dream-inspired songs from around the globe.

The Kid’s finale is Kid Karaoke at at OCA’s headquarters.  Yes, we’re calling all future Broadway stars, Grammy winners or kids who just like to sing.  This lively event is designed especially for children to explore their love of music, build confidence and have a ball with friends.  Kids can choose from a wide selection of popular songs-from classic favorites to today’s biggest hits-and take the stage in a supportive, judgment-free environment. The Pluff Mud Players, a local performing group consisting of Trinity Montessori students from the St. Gregory and St. Cecelia chirs, will perform both sacred and non-sacred music specializing in Advent/Christmas Lessons and Carols, standard repertoire, musicals and operettas.  Children in Trinity’s Pluff Mud Players receive a comprehensive music education including theory, voice, sight-singing, reading music, instruments, acting and performance.

Palmetto Choral Collective presents Sing Me a Story
The youth singers of Palmetto Choral Collective will offer an uplifting and interactive concert for all ages celebrating Charleston County Library’s summer reading program “Endless Eras: Endless Stories.”

Sand Sculpting Competition
Come out and participate in the sand sculpting competition at the Isle of Palms’ Front Beach. Watch artists compete for prizes in different categories as they take raw sand and water and transform the beach into beautiful works of art.  Whether you’re a competitor or a spectator, this family-friendly celebration is fun for everyone.

Kids Craft Fair
The Kids Craft Fair features student-made products, including jewelry, artwork, baked goods, accessories and creative inventions.  All vendors are students in grades 4-12, and every booth is run entirely by the young entrepreneurs themselves.

Harambee Dance Company
The Harambee Dance Company will perform original and traditional routines accompanied by live drumming and singing. Harambee encourages kids to interact with the music at this family-friendly event!

Tricky Words Magic Show

What if everything you thought you knew about fairy tales wasn’t true? Join the student performers at Low Country Arts Theatre for an evening performance of family fun where all your favorite fairytales are retold from a new main character’s perspective. The cast is set to amaze, ranging between the ages of 7 and 15, with talent that will leave you inspired and excited for our next generation of Charleston-based actors and actresses.

Written and directed by local female playwright Andrea White, this performance is sure to entertain and thrill all ages. Low Country Arts Theatre is a new educational youth theatre company by Director Andrea White, together with Assistant Director and Choreographer Simone Liberty. The company serves students with Musical Theatre learning and performing experiences in the Charleston area and beyond.
